Quick facts about Morocco

– the capital city is Rabat
– Rabat, Casablanca, and Marrakech are the three largest cities
– French is very widely spoken here, since it is taught in schools (Morocco used to be a French protectorate). Some people can speak and understand basic English.
– Morocco has a closed currency, so you can’t bring dirhams out of the country (you are required to exchange your leftovers dirhams, and you need to keep your ATM or currency exchange receipts to do this).
– Moroccans are very friendly and open-minded (tourism is their main industry)
– Only men are allowed to work in shops and do crafts.
